چکیده

The last two decades have witnessed increased interest in High-Power Electromagnetics (HPEM), particularly generation of high-power electromagnetic fields and their effects on electronics. Up to now most investigations on HPEM are characterizing the HPEM environment (e.g. source output, HPEM threat) employing frequency domain parameters of classical EMC. Nevertheless an efficient discussion of HPEM effects requires addition information on the time domain waveform as well as the probability of occurrence. This paper will analyze intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) as a system. A novel system based interference model, which will solve problems of current investigations will be introduced.

Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) and Its Impact on

FOREWORD This report has been written to provide an overview of Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) threats to the electric power infrastructure. It is based on the past 10 years of research by the authors and their colleagues who have been active in the field. Some of the information provided here is adapted from the IEEE Special Issue on HPEM and IEMI published in the IEEE EMC Tra...

Non-invasive Trigger-free Fault Injection Method Based on Intentional Electromagnetic Interference

This paper presents a new type of fault injection method based on intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI), which causes information leakage from cryptographic devices without disrupting their operations or damaging their physical structures. The basic principle is to transmit a sinusoidal EM wave via a power/communication cable or an antenna. The IEMI-based fault injection method is per...

Risk Analysis of Intentional Electromagnetic Interference on Critical Infrastructures

Our modern society depends on the functioning and interplay of a wealth of infrastructures. Practically all of these infrastructures are in some form or another, dependent on electrical and electronic systems. The majority of modern infrastructure is dependent on electric power and controlled by Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Electronic systems are sensitive to electr...

INTERACTION NOTES NOTE 627 October 2015 STUDY OF THE PROPAGATION OF IEMI SIGNALS ALONG POWER AND COMMUNICATION LINES

This note studies the propagation of IEMI (Intentional Electromagnetic Interference) signals along power/communication cables. Specifically, the attenuation and distortion of the IEMI signals resulting from conductive and dielectric losses are studied. The presented analysis allows the evaluation of the required propagation distance at which the attenuation and distortion of IEMI signals are su...

Impact evaluation of conducted UWB transients on loads in power-line networks

Nowadays, faced with the ever-increasing dependence on diverse electronic devices and systems, the proliferation of potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) becomes a critical threat for reliable operation. A typical issue is the electronics working reliably in power-line networks when exposed to electromagnetic environment. In this paper, we consider a conducted ultra-wideband (UWB) distur...
